Ten on Tuesday.

1. Sometimes i would like Driver Dan to drive off a cliff.

2.There has been a little (much awaited in our house) snow these past couple of days, how cute is this photo of my 2 watching it today. It is snowing i promise!

3. However I am not enjoying the practically Arctic temperatures that go with the snow.

4. Me and the kids were in the doctors the other day,And as we sat in the waiting area a man came to sit down too.To which Mr 3 exclaimed (REALLY loudly) 'Mom.I don't want that man to sit next to me'.The man took the hint and sat far far away from us.

5.As i went to pick up Mr 3 from Sunday school this week, his teacher mentioned to me that when they'd been playing sleeping lions he'd fallen asleep.Bless him.Who wouldn't tho? Opportunity to have a cheeky nap.Taken.

6.Mr 3 is not keen on girls.I'm hoping this has to do with his age.. I heard him say the other day to his dad that when he gets married he wants to marry George. My OH said he couldn't really marry his brother. But Mr 3 said he'd have to as he really didn't want anything to do with a girl!

7.On Sunday Mr 3 is a king in our church nativity. Not just any king but the CHIEF king.Who brings gold to Jesus! He is soo proud of this,Tells everyone he's the CHIEF King.

8.On Tuesday in his school nativity he is a.. wait for it.. Bird!Oh How the mighty have fallen.

9.When Mr 1 and me go and do the food shop,he loves going in the trolley. This is his favourite position...

I'm not going to lie, ladies of a certain age seem to find it distressing. However he's not doing this because he's stuck and cant get up,He actually likes it.So ladies..Deal with it.

10. I'll leave you with this picture of cuteness..

Ten on Tuesday.

1.Me and the OH are actually addicted to I'm a celebrity. We haven't missed a show yet (due to sky+ were not that sad).I'm sure after the final i will go into a sort of grieving period for a day.Love it.

2.I'm not sure who's boobs are bigger Jessica J's or Willie Carsons. Quoted from my OH last night.

3.While we're on the boob issue, how do the girls who are on IAC actually stand up?They are so so tiny and have the most humongous boobs! They look like they should be doubled over.Seriously girls.

4.On Friday i sent Mr 3 to school in his uniform. On non uniform day.The shame of it.Poor lad.Thank goodness he's only 3.Thankfully he didn't seem to notice too much.

5.Last weekend my OH's dad and step mum came to stay,Mr 3 was so excited. And so was i.My (step) mother in law is like my life coach. She's a pretty remarkable woman and i would like to be her when i grow up.Thankyou.Please.

6.My OH's family have this tradition where they watch a film called Bernard and the genie every Christmas.Unfortunately i missed the annual viewing on Saturday as i was in costa. Genuinely gutted..

7.On Friday when i went to pick up Mr 3 from school, his teacher presented me with a large gift bag.Inside it contained something very precious..A travelling crib.12 pieces.Complete with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus. We had to unpack it,light a candle, sing a little song and think about the true meaning of Christmas. It was really cute. And i think necessary in this day and age.The song wasn't so cute as the enclosed cd wasn't actually enclosed so we sort of ad libbed and that was interesting. Then the next morning we packed it up and took it back to nursery to go to someone else's house for the next night. Here's a photo with an illuminous snowman too.

8.I have a full set of grandparents.A grandma and a grandad. Who i now live round the corner from. My grandma is a baker and a knitter and my grandad is a maker of fantastic bacon sandwiches and he tells the best stories,he knows everything..When i was younger I'd ring him with all sorts of random homework questions.I think the world of them. And they do me. I consider myself extremely lucky to have them.

9.I had a knitting lesson today off my grandma,so far its going well!

10.When Mr 3 was really sleepy last night i said to him "i really really love you" to which he replied "Good".

I first heard about 10 on Tuesday from Sarah at Partyof seven..Check her out for an hilarious read.. http://familyjamesfive.typepad.com/whats_going_on_in_the_jam/

Ten on Tuesday.

Ten on Tuesday..

1.My 3 year old is currently doing my head in.I mean i love him, of course i do.I adore him.But some days he actually drives me insane. Give me a naughty child over a whingey one any day. Please tell me I'm not alone! Anyway mustn't dwell on Mr 3's naughtiness any more as his grannie/grandma will read this and you know how granparents view their grandchildren.Butter wouldn't melt and all that..

2.Never let a 3 year old put a stock cube in your beef bourguignon.Ever.Ever ever. From my experience even tho you try and teach them to crumble it in,it literally ends up ALL over the kitchen.Mental note-even tho he's badgering you to do it,its easier to put up with a tantrum than be cleaning beef oxo cubes off the kitchen floor.

3.Power cut in Morrison's today. Everyone got ushered out.It was very exciting for us(Me,Mr 1 and Mr 3) and the rest of the pensioners there. All the lights went off and everything.Very exciting.

4.We got a new (to us) couch yesterday. Its well nice, very Laura Ashley.Bargain price of £60!Bit of bartering, delivered same day.Made up.

5.At the same place that we picked up our bargainous couch we got a nest of glass topped tables(not sure if that's the technical term.Lol) for £8.Yes £8.Ive been looking for a little nest of tables for a while and not seen any for less that £45.And that was at 'The Range'. Shocking, I know.So i cleaned the tables up,washed the glass, bobbed down to B&Q, chose a few wallpaper 'samples',chopped up the 'samples',stuck on top of tables,Added Glass to top of table and Bobs your uncle and Fannys your Aunt. They look Boss!

6.Because of the afor mentioned tables,I'm finding it hard not to get too carried away thinking i have an amazing creative side which Ive not discovered till now and just take baby steps in my new creative journey!

7.What is it about M&S that make your kids wanna make a HUGE scene. Now i hate to make a scene.Hate it.Especially when its a quiet place, with snotty people and a toddler.Hate it. Its making me cringe now thinking of it.I popped into our local store last week to pick up a Christmas food order booklet(we are having Christmas at ours this year(!) for 10..) and it was a total mare. The Quinny was playing up,The 3 year old was playing up,and The baby was playing up.Not good. I'm just a mum,I'm not trained in spooks style negotiation skills which are needed to prize Mr 3 from the toy section. It was a total nightmare.

8.Me and my OH are really into the west wing atm. Were on season 3 so far .Love it. However there is one thing that really worries me about it. Sometimes it gets really emotional. There's some big things going on in that west wing i can tell you.And i don't understand why at the end of an episode when someone has had a particularly bad day no one gives them a hug.No one. Not one person.Times when someone is in tears and they just need a hug. I'm not going to lie, it does distress me slightly. Its times like these that i realise i may have a little too much emotion going on..

9. We had plans tonight but they've just been cancelled.Huzzah! I'm not a fan of going out of an evening, once the kids are in bed and its dark outside, unless its something really exciting I'm rather reluctant to venture out.

10.My in laws are coming to stay this weekend and Mr 3 is beside himself with excitement,we all are tbh but him especially. We love them alot and they live 4 hours away so we cant wait to see them.Mr 3 keeps asking me questions about it such as ' how many sleeps till they get here?' and 'are they sleeping?' Bring on the weekend!

Two little boys...

These two little boys are cousins. My boy and my sister's boy.And believe it or not they were born 16 hours apart.Mine on the 28.12.2007 and My sister's on 29.12.2007.Now that was an interesting xmas..

They have such a special relationship.Almost like brothers.

Believe me its not all plain sailing..They fight like cat and dog.But i think that's where the Brother thing comes in.

When it comes too it i know they are thick as thieves. And come on,how absolutely gorgeous are they!?!

Ten on Tuesday.Or not..

Currently listening to my sister in law on the radio, she got a show 10-11 on a Tuesday eve on www.flyfm.co.uk. She's an absolute natural. Motown=Tuuunes.

So anyway...I know its Tuesday and i know i should have Ten for you but i don't. I do have one for you tho. Today i cuddled a 4 day old baby. He's an absolute beaut. His mum is one of my bestest friends and we used to live round the corner from them.

They are the sort of family who, when you leave their house you not only feel like a good person but a really really fantastically good person. They are that encouraging. Our other 2 boys are pretty much exactly the same age and are best friends(aawwww).Mr 3 will unashamedly tell anyone that Elijah is his bestest friend in the whole world. And even though we now live 62 miles apart he's no way interested in getting a new one.Bless!

Master Tipping number 2 weighed in at a impressive 10lb 15.Someone give that woman a medal! She's actually my hero x

1st Birthday..

Today is my baby's birthday. 365 days old. 52 weeks old. A whole year old.

A good friend once said to me that when a baby has his first birthday the parents deserve a medal. For surviving a whole year looking after a baby. Ive got to say i agree. What a year we've had.Serious roller coaster.

Ive got to say what a gorgeous little boy he is.Cute as can be.Smiles at everyone.Waves at everyone.Especially in supermarkets. His laugh is infectious.I love how he loves his big brother, follows him around constantly,Always trying to interact with him. Also i love his feisty side, stubborn already. If he doesn't like it he'll let you know.If you take a toy off him he'll smack you in the face(we're working on this one).I also love how he looks like his Dad.Same dimples.Same chin bum.Same gorgeousness.

We were trying for another baby for 10 months before he came along.I look back now and its perfect timing. While i was pregnant i bled twice.Scared the shit out of me both times.First time i was 7 weeks, Me and Mr 3 were feeding the ducks at Shibden. 60 miles from home but thankfully in my home town.OH was about 300 miles away at the other end of the country.Turned up at my Grandmas.Mortified.She looked after me,feeding me very sweet tea and gossiping like mad to try and keep my mind of it.Until my brother turned up and drove us home.Love him.went to hosp, had a scan and there was that precious heart beat.Beating like mad.Beautiful. 2nd time  at 10 weeks. I thought that was it.I didn't think we'd get a second chance.no way.Again off to the women's.I remember lying on the bed praying they'd be some sort of explanation. That they'd be a reason that I'd bled twice. There was.I had an Ectropion or cervical erosion. Its hard to explain but totally harmless. Relieved is not the word.Again baby was fine.

I don't exactly bloom in pregnancy.I wish i did but i don't.I puke.Alot.All the way through. And the birth is another story..
And then you were here. And the rest is history.I wanted to share some of my favourite pics of the little man on his birthday..

Ten on Tuesday.

Super quick Ten on Tuesday...

1.My OH hasn't taken a day off work (other than his 1 day a week) since Christmas.Fact. So we had a mini break! Obv with the kids so not so much of the break more of parenting in a different location. My dad has a caravan in the grounds of Castle Howard near York. Its absolutely Beaut. When i say caravan what i mean is mobile home type thing with lush kitchen and enormous decking/balcony type thing.Anyway it was so good to get away into the countryside. The air feels fresher doesn't it?

2.We've been having porridge for breakfast and Mr 3 insists of having hundreds and thousands with it.Call me a bad mum but it keeps him quiet and he finishes it all!

3.We bought some Sparklers the other day and thought it would be a bit of a treat for Mr 3 but he was petrified of them! Bless him.If you think about it we were asking him to hold something with fire on the end of it,wave it about and write his name with it(!??).Poor Lad.

4.Mr 3 calls Sparklers, sprinklers instead.

5.He also calls pumpkins, poinkins. Both too cute to correct.

6.I should know from experience that the times where Mr 3 is telling me something over and over and over that i need to listen to him.All mums will surely relate to your child going on and on and on and you just going- yeah,OK love, just a second, wont be a minute.Well i bought some beautiful Lillie's in York on Saturday and while travelling back home on Sat i didn't want to crush them in the boot  with the buggy etc so i sort of stood them up in between the kids car seats in the back.So 30 Min's into the journey Mr 3 was going on and on and on about something and it took me a little bit to get that he was saying "mummy, why wont these flowers open?"!!! he was trying to prize the flowers open with his little hands. Not ideal.

7.You would think i would learn from the above but no.This morning i may have been on facebook when he was saying something. What he actually was saying was "mummy,George is nibbling my toes"and he was. That will teach me.

8.We asked Mr 3 if he would like another brother or maybe a sister yesterday(i would like to take this opportunity to say i am not pregnant.NOT.No way Jose.i repeat not pregnant.Anyone who knows me knows i am sick as a dog for 9 whole months of pregnancy and I'm not willing to put my OH through all that again just yet, Maybe in a couple of years.Maybe).And he replied that he wanted a sister as he already had a brother, but he wanted a boy sister. Not a girl one.

9.Mr 3 said in the car the other day "mum!! Ive just seen some sheep!" I thought this was unusual on Keighley Road. Then  he went "oh no,it was just some couches"Lol.

10.Last week i was asked twice in 1 day when i was due.Within the space of 30 minutes.Mental note to self-never wear that dress again.

Ten on Tuesday.

Ok. Brew? Check. No kids? Check.Cadburys Flake? Check. Ten on Tuesday..Lets go..

1.I cannot for the life in me get the Hotdog song out of my head. All day.Hotdog hotdog hot diggedy dog.

2.Me and the kids went to Eureka today, the infamous kids museum. Its brilliant.I already knew this as i went as a kid.Its strange going back somewhere that you went as a child with your own kids. There's this pressure that you want them to love it as much as you do.

3.Mr 3 has started calling people 'my little kite flyer'.I know this sounds weird.Well it is really. For example i asked him to pick some pegs up off the floor(the same pegs that the baby is obsessed with and as soon as the cupboard is open he whips them out, causing havoc around the kitchen floor, and although its pretty deadly at moments if you slip on one,It sure does keep that baby quiet!) he replied "OK my little kite flyer". As I'd heard him say this a few times to the baby today i asked my OH did he know where Mr 3 had got it from.He had no idea.So i asked the boy himself where he had got 'my little kite flyer' from, which he replied 'my heart'.Cue my heart melting.

4.One thing Mr 3 has always said to the baby is "I always love you George". We think this is pretty darn cute.

5.Saturday night we had a night off.Oh yeah a night off the kids. An fundraising event for a charity called One in a million.Champagne reception,Three course meal,Champagne, hotel for the night,Champagne. It was bliss. We had an absolute ball.I couldn't help thinking tho rolling to bed at 2.30am that i should have used my time more wisely. That i should have gone to bed around 7pm and slept for a good 1000 14 hours.I would have woke up feeling soo refreshed. But instead i had a grand total of 5 hours sleep.Do i regret it tho the gin and the champers? Hell no!

6. This week i went public.Came out of the bloggers closet as it were.Told people about my blog.Put it on facebook.I know.Shock horror!! This was a huge step for me.Ive been wanting to write a blog for so long, i know its foolish but I've been so concerned about what people thought of me that i didn't do it. It didn't occur to do one and not tell people about it until about a month ago! so i did one and told a tiny select few people (i think people who i knew i felt uber safe with). Then my confidence grew the more blogs i wrote and i knew the next step was to go public. So i did.And my,what a response.Thank you for the blog love people!!

7.Me and the hubster are well into west wing at the moment i think bordering on addiction Tonight were going to watch the last 2 episodes of season 2.I think my favourite character is Donna.Love her.

8.My baby is turning 1 next week.Could someone please tell me where this year has gone?

9.I would like to apologise for my issues with spelling and such like on this blog.I'm a terrible speller so spell check is now my bezzie but i still get a little confused with the whole there their they're thing so please be patient with me.

10.Tomorrow i bake 50 cupcakes, so off i go to write my shopping list..

Tuesday, 18 October 2011

Ten on Tuesday

1. In my bag of spinach today i found a huge piece of grass, about 25 cm long! My OH tells me this is how i know my spinach is organic.

2.Today i made my first ever proper omelet. And it was lush. Many thanks go to my grandad who practically talked me through the process. Thanks Grandad.

3.Ive come to realise i love scalding hot burns your tongue a bit tea.

4.This morning the boys were playing together, when i say playing i mean Mr 3 was taking everything off the baby that he got hold of.I could tell the baby was getting more annoyed by the second, next thing i knew the baby properly whacked Mr 3 in the eye.and before you ask defiantly on purpose! I know it sounds awful but i had to stifle my laugh. This is a first. I'm made up the baby is sticking up for himself and hopefully it will make Mr 3 think twice about taking the baby's toys but i personally wouldn't have gone about it this way.

5.Everyone is Octonauts mad in this house. And when i say everyone i mean everyone. The baby has a little dance to himself when the music starts. Explore.Rescue.Protect!

6.I'm going to take the opportunity to confess something.I've being eating rich tea fingers for a while now as I'm doing slimmimg world and they are only 1 syn.My favourite the good old chocolate digestive is 5 syns! Shocking i know. But i actually really like rich tea fingers now.In fact i love them.Enjoy dipped in a brew for optimum pleasure.

7.Ive listened to the Glee Christmas album twice today.Deal with it.

8.On my kitchen-diner floor today there has been many many different food groups. And after having his fill of his tea in his high chair the baby flings the rest on the floor, then likes to get on the floor and finish what he started.

9.Today we had brand spanking new friends over for a play date.We were all a bit nervous as it hadn't happened in a while but i need to seriously network us some friends over here so just had to get on with it.The play date went well, another has been arranged and there was no tears.Success!!

10.I am now off to watch Downton Abbey and drink tea.

"Broncy season"

The beginning of 2011 was a tough one for us for various reasons. One of which was both our boys were admitted to Alder hay within a week of each other. Firstly there was Mr 3,on his third birthday to be precise. We're still not quite sure what happened but while we were watching Home Alone and eating party food he went really pale and his little tummy was working really hard to breathe, so off to the walk in center we trot.Only to be sent straight to Alder hay when they'd done his obs, during which he was freaking out so much he peed all down my leg as he sat on my knee(i then had to wear the same jeans for the next 24 hours until we were discharged.Nice) It turns out he had a sort of Asthma attack, bless him.

So we finally arrived on the ward at 3am and he screamed and screamed and screamed and screamed for his daddy and that he wanted to go home.At this point i was crying too for his daddy but a bit more consideratly.

So you can imagine how welcoming the other parents on the ward were to us.I don't blame them.I would be fuming too if it were me woken up at that time to a child who sounded like he was bordering on possessed.Anyway we were sent home with more steroids and he was fine.

His 8 week old brother however wasn't. Over the next few days he developed a really weird cough.Really high pitched. We took him to the doctor various times and were told it was just a virus.
But the coughing continued and he literally stopped eating.

So another trip to the walk in,to be sent straight to Alder hay(which is a bloody fantastic hospital, the nurses are second to none). He was admitted, had a tube put up his nose and into his tummy so he could have some food and oxygen and nebulisers to help him breathe. He wasn't eating because he was working so hard to breathe he couldn't do both : ( don't get me wrong i know it was only Broncillitus but those 6 days we were there was horrible, seeing my little one all hooked up is something no mum wants to see. We basically had to ride it out,as he needed help with eating and breathing until the bronc had passed. And ride it out we did!

The little mite has had bronc 3 times since but not half as bad. So I'm not exactly looking forward to this winter  and "broncy season"but hes going for a flue jab soon so hopefully that will help : )

I never intended to blog about this today i just wanted to share a photo, its too precious to put on face book but somehow it feels ok on here. Its one of my favourite photos of all time and 2 of my favourite people are in it.My baby and my baby sister. Her help was invaluable that hellish week, she looked after Mr 3 all morning while my OH came to the hospital and she would come and sit with me and the little one all afternoon.Everyday for 6 days.No doubt she would have done it for as long as we needed her. I adore her and my kids adore her.

Thankyou Gabs we will never forget it x

Wednesday, 12 October 2011

1. I find it impossible to make an omelet.Strange but true.i get to the whole flipping it in half thing and i just cant do it,so every time i end up just mixing it together in a scrambled egg kinda way.

2.A postman gave me his day rider bus ticket the other day.I love random acts of kindness like that, makes me think that there is a bit of goodness left in the world.

3.My baby has just gone down for his nap covered in jam and teething powder.Hes teething at the moment and also just dropped his morning nap,.not a good combo. instead of having a little top up of sleep at 9am after waking at 6 ish he now goes to 12 without a sleep but to be honest by 11.30 we are both on our knees.Hes so winy when he's tired and lets not forget the teething malarkey.I have actually never ever ever seen nappies like it.They should be made illegal.Seriously. So when he smeared jam all over his face, followed by ibuprofen followed by teething powder i really wasn't that fussed to be honest so just popped him in bed and I'll deal with the consequences at 2.

i fully intended to have a bigger list today but Ive got serious writers block.Lol.Probably due to teething sleepless nights,so I'm going to go and watch the pride of Britain awards which Ive sky+ and drink tea.

This week baby i promise....

         This week baby i promise....

                          To give you my time,

When your older you wont remember our house being tidy or my hair being nice,
but the times that we spent together and the fun that we had. x

Born this way..

For me family makes the world go round.

We've just moved to be closer to family and i have to say in the words of Roland Mcdonald-I'm loving it. Its the everyday stuff i used to miss. The popping round for a brew,or calling in on their way somewhere.

Don't get me wrong i haven't got rose tinted specks on,i understand that by moving, I'm 62 miles closer to the drama that (surely?!) goes on in every family. But you've got to take the rough with the smooth. And ours is mainly(most of the time) smooth..

We hosted a birthday party for my cousins 13th birthday today,we ate giant Yorkshire pudding, danced to lady gaga and got filled to our eyeballs with cake.It wasn't anything special just my sister, nephew, cousin,us and a few balloons. But i like to think its building memories. And that's got to be a good thing.

P.s couldn't resist sharing this lush photo of my 2.

9 on a Thursday

1. Mr 3 has a new catch phrase. Each time I've called him today he's replied 'I'm coming mum, quick as a comet' not sure of its origins but i think its cute.

2.I managed to spill a bottle of chocolate milk all over my feet and kitchen floor tonight, hobbled to get a towel whilst spreading milk everywhere only to turn around and find the baby crawling through it in newly clean just put on pj's!!

3.Today i learned that i shouldn't just assume that Mr 3 knows that its not socially acceptable to shout "hello old lady"to women of a certain age in Morrisons.

4.Dog poo and squashed used old t-bags are surprisingly similar when crushed into the wheels of a toy monster truck. Its only when you smell it that you breath a sigh of relief.Or not.

5.For breakfast 4 slices of toast, 1 yogurt,1apple and 1 plum were consumed by my monster preschooler, normally its hard enough trying to get a bowl of cereal down him!

6.I've killed 2 spiders tonight which is wrong on so many levels, not on a 'i am a tree hugging, never kill anything, even a lettuce leaf' kinda level but firstly i hate spiders, and my OH is away so i have to deal with them on my own and cant look at them enough to put them under a glass and let them outside.Purleeze! But i just used my Lakeland Christmas Catalogue to kill one.which I'm not best pleased about.

7.Something happened this week to someone we know, which is too horrible for words.I'll hold my babies just that little bit longer now.

8.I promised my little sister that i would stay up till 10.30 to talk to her while she walks to work tonight.Mission impossible.

9.I don't think there is anything better in this world than sitting on a blanket,in your garden with your baby.Who is unbelievably cute and squidgy in just his nappy.

Nap (nightmare) time

So first Blog.Pressure.

I'm currently writing this while my 10 month old sleeps.

When i say sleep what i really mean is screaming in his cot at the top of his lungs.

I can tell its one of those cries that almost sounds empty. So loud but empty. In his language it means 'im fine,im exhausted, i really really need to nap but i would just like a cuddle' know what i mean?

I would give him a cuddle ,we have plenty of cuddles in this house, but i know it would only set us right back at the beginging of this often looong process.

So for now we wait..
